Arm Lift Before and After Pictures

If you are embarrassed or uncomfortable because of excess skin or fat in the region of your upper arms, consider improving your appearance by correcting the problem with arm lift surgery. The Atlanta Center for Breast and Aesthetic Surgery, under the direction of Dr. Frederick T. Work, Jr., offers arm lifts for men and women in and around the Buckhead, Vinings and Sandy Springs area in Georgia.

What is an Arm Lift? / Brachioplasty

An arm lift (brachioplasty) is a cosmetic procedure, not commonly covered by insurance, which removes excess skin from the upper arms. Patients may select this procedure if they experience excess skin of the upper arms which lacks elasticity due to normal signs of aging, family genetics or excessive weight loss. It is frequently associated with excess fat.

Benefits of an Arm Lift/ Brachioplasty

For people who have unsightly “wings” or an accumulation of excess loose skin or pockets of fat hanging from their upper arms, the arm lift procedure provides rejuvenation and tightness to the area, creating a more toned and streamlined silhouette.

Candidates for Arm Lift / Brachioplasty

The ideal candidates for an arm lift procedure are people who are in overall good health and who want to eliminate excess sagging skin and fat from their upper arm region.

The Arm Lift / Brachioplasty Procedure

Brachioplasty is usually performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. A small longitudinal skin incision along the inside of the upper arm is made extending from the elbow into the armpit. Following the procedure, the area is wrapped or more commonly placed in an elastic sleeve to aid in the reduction of excessive swelling. Another elective and enhancing procedure that will augment the results of brachioplasty is liposuction of the upper arms prior to resection of the excess skin.

Arm Lift / Brachioplasty Recovery

Patients may remove dressings and begin taking showers 72 hours following surgery. Drains are usually removed in one to two weeks. The patient will wear a compression garment on the arms for approximately four weeks.

Where Are The Scars Located For An Arm Lift/ Brachioplasty?

The scar that results from an arm lift procedure is a thin vertical scar that is discreetly hidden on the inside of the upper arm from the armpit to the elbow crease. The scar is designed to be hidden when people stand normally with their arms hanging at their side.

I Plan To Lose A Lot Of Weight. Should I Do An Arm Lift Now Or Wait?

It is always recommended that patients seeking an arm lift be roughly within 10 to 20 pounds of their target weight. If you lose further weight after surgery, you may have additional sagging skin that needs to be removed. The more weight you have lost prior to the surgery, the more effective the procedure. If you maintain a stable weight after surgery, your results will generally be permanent.

When Can I Start Exercising Again After an Arm Lift / Brachioplasty?

Although patients may experience soreness for a few days after the procedure, most patients may become active by the following day, although with limitations. You may resume regular daily activities after four or five days, however, rigorous exercise and athletic activities may be resumed after a period of four weeks. Dr. Work will be happy to answer all your questions regarding specific activities following surgery.

How Much Does An Arm Lift/Brachioplasty Cost in Atlanta?

Because arm lift surgery is generally performed for cosmetic reasons, most health insurance providers will not provide coverage for the costs. To make your arm lift procedure more affordable, the Atlanta Center for Breast and Aesthetic Surgery proudly offers CareCredit® and Prosper® Healthcare Lending as financing options for all of our patients.
