Body Lift in Atlanta, GA

Body Lift Before and After Pictures

After a dramatic weight loss through methods such as bariatric surgery, a body lift procedure is often recommended to lift, tighten and tone excess loose skin from the lower body. The Atlanta Center for Breast and Aesthetic Surgery, led by Dr. Frederick T. Work, Jr., offers body lift procedures to patients who live in and around Buckhead, Vinings and Sandy Springs, who struggle with the post weight loss reality of excess skin. The removal of unsightly loose and sagging skin completes the transformation for patients who have undergone dramatic weight loss.

What is a Body Lift?

A lower body lift is an ideal procedure for male and female patients who have lost an extreme amount of weight which in turn leaves behind excessive amounts of skin circumferentially around the torso area. This procedure can also be partnered with other procedures to include liposuction and breast augmentation.

Benefits of a Body Lift

The goal of undergoing dramatic weight loss is to look and feel better; however, while medical conditions related to obesity will improve or even completely resolve after such procedures as bariatric surgery, the resulting excess loose and sagging skin is still an aesthetic problem. In many patients who suffered from obesity for many years, the skin is often stretched beyond a point where its elasticity will not let it tighten around a new, slimmer body. To achieve a total transformation, additional body sculpting procedures, such as a body lift, may be necessary. A body lift provides the following benefits:

  • A flatter and tighter belly and midsection.
  • A lifted and sculpted derriere.
  • Smooth, taut skin in the belly, thighs and buttocks.
  • Smoothing of abnormal folds, creases and irregularities such as cellulite.
  • Relieves irritation and infections resulting from skin folds.
  • Produces a tighter, more defined and streamlined body contour.
  • Improves self-confidence, body image and self-esteem.

Who Is An Ideal Body Lift Candidate For a Body Lift?

The lower body lift procedure is ideal for people who were once obese and have achieved a more normal Body Mass Index (BMI) but who are still concerned about complications caused by excess, loose skin. Patients must be in overall good health. The procedure may also be recommended for non-weight loss patients who have similar concerns. Almost anyone who has excess loose skin in the area of the abdomen, flanks, buttocks or thighs, may benefit from this procedure. It is important to have realistic expectations when undergoing any cosmetic procedure and we recommend you discuss these at length with Dr. Work during your initial consultation.

The Body Lift Procedure

While belt like incisions can span up to 360 degrees, Dr. Work aims to confine the surgical incision within the bikini area to lessen scar visibility after the procedure. He will lift or remove the band of loose sagging skin and use liposuction to extract smaller fatty deposits that are lodged in problem areas. Once the fat has been removed and the skin tightened and smoothed, Dr. Work will close the incisions with sutures in a manner that tightens the remaining tissues.

Body Lift Recovery

Following lower body lifts, patients will witness a vast improvement in their overall body contour. All procedures and protocols are individualized by Dr. Work to ensure that the personal needs of each of his patients are met. Other advantages to this choice of procedure are that stretch marks of the abdomen may be removed, while those that are left will take on a flatter, less visible appearance. Patients seeking this surgery are very comfortable with the outcome and are excited by their body’s overall new contour and shape. Dressings are removed after 72 hours and patients may begin to take showers. Drainage tubes remain in place until they cease draining which is usually approximately in two to four weeks.

How Is A Lower Body Lift Different From Liposuction?

Liposuction is a much less invasive procedure that only removes small deposits of fat. It does not tighten the skin, remove sagging skin or improve cellulite. In contrast, a lower body lift tightens the skin and improves cellulite. If you have excess deposits of fatty pockets accumulated in problem areas, liposuction may be used to complement the lower body lift surgery in order to achieve optimal results.

When Can A Patient Resume Exercise After A Lower Body Lift?

Dr. Work recommends that after a lower body lift, you should avoid strenuous physical activity for at least six weeks and return to a regular exercise routine gradually over time. Because the lower body lift affects large areas of the body, it is imperative that these areas be given time to heal properly.

How Much Does A Body Lift Cost in Atlanta?

To make your body lift procedure more affordable, the Atlanta Center for Breast and Aesthetic Surgery proudly offers CareCredit® and Prosper® Healthcare Lending as financing options for all of our patients.
