Liposuction in Druid Hills, GA

If you have excess fatty deposits that cause certain body parts to appear disproportionate or larger than they should, you are not alone. Many of our patients who desire better body contours undergo liposuction. Liposuction can remove stubborn fat from a number of body areas, and is often performed on the hips, thighs, abdomen, buttocks, and upper arms. Here at Atlanta Center for Breast and Aesthetic Surgery, which is led by Dr. Frederick T. Work, Jr., we offer liposuction procedures for those men and women who reside in and around Druid Hills, GA.

What Is Liposuction?

An extremely common body contouring procedure, liposuction removes excess fat from the body permanently. It can be completed on nearly any area of the face or body, eliminating unsightly fatty deposits that continue to resist diet and exercise. It is performed on an outpatient basis using only local or twilight anesthesia.

Who Are Ideal Candidates For Liposuction?

You may be an ideal candidate for liposuction if you:

  • Are at or near your ideal weight
  • Have pockets of stubborn fat that you cannot seem to eliminate regardless of the fact that you are in fairly good physical condition
  • Are in good health
  • Understand the risks and benefits of surgery and have reasonable expectations as to what you can accomplish through liposuction
  • Are committed to continuing a healthy lifestyle even after your procedure, as weight gain may alter your results

The Liposuction Procedure

Dr. Work will begin your procedure by marking the area where liposuction will occur with a marker. After administering anesthesia, he will make one or more incisions in the targeted area. These incisions, when possible, will be concealed within the natural creases of your skin in order to make them as inconspicuous as possible.

Once the anesthesia kicks in, Dr. Work will insert the cannula, moving it back and forth gently to “suck up” fat cells. They are then discharged from your body via the tube connected to the cannula. This is the basic liposuction technique; however, there are several variations of it that are used. The exact technique performed on you will be determined by Dr. Work during your initial consultation, and he will discuss any particulars with you at that time.
